A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS REQUESTING THE CITY OF DALLAS TO PROTECT AND RAISE THE LAKE LEVEL OF LEWISVILLE LAKE WHEREAS, the City of Dallas is primarily responsible for determining the level of Lewisville Lake; and WHEREAS, Lewisville Lake has taken the brunt of low water levels compared to other lakes in the region; and WHEREAS, the low lake levels are a danger to boating and other recreational uses; and WHEREAS, the number of visitors to the lake has steadily declined due to the low water levels and WHEREAS, the reduced number of visitors has been disastrous for the businesses in the area dependent on summer visitors; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Dallas be urged by cities and businesses to have the water level of Lewisville Lake raised so that all lakes are treated equally. Each lake should share in the burden of dealing with drought conditions and low water levels, and that each lake's level should be at a similar percentage of normal height. Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after adoption and it so resolved. PASSED AND APPROVED this 18~ day of September 2000.
