THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS
RESOLUTION NO. ~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE
COLONY, TEXAS, EXPRESSING ITS DESIRE TO BE REPRESENTED
BY A SINGLE DENTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER AFTER THE
DENTON COUNTY REDISTRICTING OF COMMISSIONERS'
DISTRICTS IS COMPLETED; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, The Federal Census, taken every ten (10) years, has been recently released;
and
WHEREAS, The Denton County Commissioner's Court is currently redistricting the
various Commissioners' Districts; and
WHEREAS, The City of The Colony is currently represented by two Denton County
Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, The City of The Colony desires that the Denton County Commissioner's
Court redistrict the various Districts so that the City of The Colony will be represented by one
Denton County Commissioner; and
WHEREAS, The City of The Colony believes that this form of single representation will
greatly benefit the citizens of the City of The Colony.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of The Colony hereby finds it is in the
best interest of the City of The Colony to have a single Commissioner to represent the City.
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of The Colony requests the Denton
County Commissioner's Court to consider this Resolution before deciding upon redistricting the
Commissioners' Districts.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect upon the date of its passage.
