RESOLUTION NO. O~ '" 33
ADOPTING PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION FOR
THE COLONY MASONIC LODGE #1451 A.F. & A.M
WHEREAS, The Colony Masonic Lodge #1451 A.F. & A.M. is an integral part of
this community; and
WHEREAS, The Colony Mason Lodge #1451 A.F. & A.M. has incorporated in its
bylaws a requirement to perform Charitable Work and Public Service; and
WHEREAS, The Colony Masonic Lodge #1451 A.F. & A.M. and its members
have performed public service and charitable work in our community including support for
various projects of Lewisville public schools and its students, local youth organizations and
state and national charitable organizations; and
WHEREAS, these and other charitable works benefit citizens across the State of
Texas as well as our own community; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts has issued a Letter of
Determination that The Colony Masonic Lodge #1451 A.F. & A.M. is eligible for
exemption from ad valorem taxes as primarily a charitable organization on account of these
and other charitable works.
NOW, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that The Colony City Council hereby
supports The Colony Masonic Lodge #1451 A.F. & A.M. in its application for exemption
from ad valorem taxation with the effective date at January 1, 2002, and recommends that
the Denton County Central Appraisal District grant such exemption.
