HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 02-29 CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. flo~* ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS SUPPORTING THE EXEMPTION FOR TAXATION OF CERTAIN DEFINED TRAVEL TRAILERS; AND PROVIDING FOR AND EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the amendment to the Texas Constitution provides the local option of exemption of taxation of certain travel trailers; and WHEREAS, legislation § 11.42 of the Tax Code defines a travel trailer as a house trailer-type vehicle or a camper trailer regardless of whether the vehicle is affixed to real property; is less than 400 square feet in area, and; is designed primarily for use as temporary living quarters in connection with recreational, camping, travel, or seasonal use and not as a permanent dwelling; and WHEREAS, the City Council of The Colony, Texas has determined to adopt this Resolution pursuant to House Bill 2076; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS; Section 1. The effective date of the Act is January 1, 2002, and applies only to taxes imposed for a tax year beginning on or after that date. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas hereby allows the exemption of certain travel trailers as defined above. Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage.
