HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Keep The Colony Beautiful - 03/26/2026 - RegularKEEP THE COLONY BEAUTFUL BOARD MEETING MINUTES THURSDAY, March 26th, 2026 After determining that a quorum was present, the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board of the City of The Colony, Texas convened into a regular session that was held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6058 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, at which time the following items were addressed: Board Members Present: Board Chairman Pam De Santiago, Board Secretary Jane Hughey, Jenna Nowlin, Melanie Gray. Board Members not Present: Board Vice Chairman Cody Carpenter, Lubna Rizvi, Michelle Potts Staff Members Present: Danny Dill, Community Outreach Officer; Iris Browder, Community Image Director 1.0 CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. 2.0 CITIZENS INPUT None 3.0 DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION 3.1 Introduction of new board member 1) New board member Melanie Gray was introduced. They live in the Tribute and have a daughter in second grade. She's been involved in nonprofit and volunteering since high school and wanted to become a board member to learn more about the city and how things work. 4.0 MINUTES 4.1 Approve minutes from, February 25, 2026 meeting Motion to approve the minutes made by board member Nowlin, second by board member Gray. Motion carried 4-0. 5.0 DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION 5.1 Update on the Multi -city Shoreline Clean Up, May 16, 2026 1) Board member Nowlin will be attending the meetings led by Jesse from Little Elm. 2) Would like to plan on 3 trail heads to be starting point for collection: The Tribute, Ridgepoint, Stewart's Creek. Pictures would be taken and supplies distributed. 3) Details on distributing material for cleanup to be detailed at a later date. 5.2 Discuss and Finalize Arbor Day Event, April 25, 2026 1) Arbor Day will be held at Hawaiian Waters 2) Setup starting at 9:00 am with event from 10 am to 1 pm. 3) We will distribute flower seeds and candy. 5.3 Discuss Raptor Event, June 3, 2026 1) Blackland Prairie will give the Raptor event 2) It will be at the annex. 3) No registration required, we'll set up for as many as we can. 5.4 Summer Kickoff, June 6, 2026 1) Will be held at the annex 2) We will distribute seeds, flashlights and other assorted items 5.5 Back to School Bash, July 22 1) We will be assigned item to distribute 5.6 National Night Out, October 6 1) Put on by The Colony Police Department at the Police Department 2) Tours of jail, mugshots, First Responders with rescue vehicles, and other things are thereto see/do. 3) We distribute candy and other swag. 5.7 Owl & Prowl, October 21 or October 28 1) Held on the Shoreline trail 2) Guided tour by a master naturalist talking/pointing out animal information. 3) Very interesting tour with a lot of questions asked. 5.8 Fall Cleanup, November 7 5.9 Recycled Art Event, December 5 1) Art projects from recycled material. 2) Theme tbd.
