HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 99-20 ORI61NAL CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. ~-,~9- O A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, ENDORSING THE CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OUTLINED IN THE DRAFT PROGRAMMATIC ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES ON FEDERAL LANDS AT LEWISVILLE LAKE, DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Whereas, the Fort Worth District, U.S. Armey Corps of Engineers (USACE) worked in partnership with the North Central Texas council of Governments along with 11 other state and local entities to develop the future water related development policy incorporated into the Draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment for Lewisville lake, Denton County, Texas; and Whereas, the Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) has been prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, the Council of Environmental Quality Regulations for Implementing the Procedural Provisions of NEPA, and the USACE implementing regulations; and Whereas, the policies and conclusions included in the PEA will allow recreation opportunities at Lewisville Lake to expand for generations to come while maintaining a reasonable amount of boater safety, user enjoyment and water quality, and protecting the natural resources of the lake/and Whereas, any additional growth in the carrying capacity of Lewisville Lake has been restricted to the area of the lake with the least use; and Whereas, USACE's policy to require the various entities requesting authorization of development projects affecting the carrying capacity of the lake to work together to come to a consensus and resubmit their requests so that the total carrying capacity of each zone will not be exceeded represents a reasonable approach that balances both the need for water quality and recreation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. hereby endorses the conclusions and recommendations outlined in the Draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment for Proposed Development Activities on Federal lands at Lewisville lake, Denton County, Texas; and Section 2. supports the findings of no significant impacts associated with the proposed projects as submitted and assessed in the Draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment. Section 3. that this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas this 2dh day of September, 1999.
