RESOLUTION NO. ~-~ 7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS SUPPORTING
THE CITY OF OAK POINT AND THE FM 720 CORRIDOR COALITION IN
REQUESTING THE WIDENINGAND MODERNIZATION OF FM 720
FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH FM 423 NORTH TO IT'S
INTERSECTION WITH US HIGHWAY 380
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF THE COLONY, TEXAS:
WHEREAS, the City of Oak Point, like all other municipalities, has a duty to protect the
morals, safety and general welfare of its citizen's; and
WHEREAS, FM 720 is in desperate need of repairs and improvements fi:om its intersection
with FM 423 north to its intersection with US Highway 380; and
WHEREAS, the population along the FM 720 Corridor has increased dramatically and is
expected to continue that growth; and
WHEREAS, the safety of the public is threatened by the state of deterioration of this
roadway; and
WHEREAS, property values are adversely affected by poorly maintained roads; and
WHEREAS, the City of Oak Point, and other cities in the surrounding area, are aware that
other sections of FM 720 are scheduled for improvement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF THE COLONY, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City of The Colony, Texas hereby join with the FM 720 Corridor
Coalition and the cities of Oak Point, Aubrey, Cross Roads, Frisco, Hackberry, Kruegerville,
Lakewood Village, Lincoln Park, Little Elm and other surrounding unincorporated areas to request
that FM 720 be widened and improved, including appropriate mm lanes and shoulders, and brought
up to the standards required for the anticipated volume of traffic, which includes heavy trucks, to
ensure the safety and welfare of the our citizens.
