HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 98-07 CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS RESOLUTION 98-07 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS ENCOURAGING THE LEGISLATURE TO KEEP IN PLACE THE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ACT OF 1979 WHICH ESTABLISHED THE ABILITY FOR MUNICIPALITIES TO ADOPT THE 4A AND 4B SALES AND USE TAX WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of the Colony recognizes the benefits of the 4A and 4B sales and use tax for economic development and municipal improvements; and WHEREAS, the City of The Colony did hold an election in January 1998 and both the ½ cent for 4A and the % cent for 4B sales and use taxes were passed; and WHEREAS, the direct results of this additional sales tax will be enhanced economic development and improved municipal facilities: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City Council hereby encourages the State Legislature to keep in place the Development Corporation Act of 1979, which established the ability for municipalities to adopt the 4A and 4B sales and use tax.
