HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/17/04 CDC MINUTES THE COLONY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION REGULAR SESSION JUNE 17TM 2004 PRESENT: Richard Boyer- President STAFF: Pam Nelson Vicki Briggs - Member Sam Fitzgerald John Sanders - Vice President Kathy Neal Susan King - Member Allen Harris - Council Liaison Sue Walden - Treasurer Don Beckel - Secretary Bunker Hill - Member Meeting called to order at - 7:05 p.m. 1. CITIZEN'S INPUT - None. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MAY 20TM 2004 - Motion to approve - Hill; Second - Sanders; motion carried. 3. UPDATE FROM DIRECTOR / ASST. DIRECTOR - FINANCIAL STATEMENTS- The board reviewed the statements. PARK IMPR 0 VEMENTS - Scout Pond- The fountain has been installed in the pond and it does have lights. BB Owen - Dugouts, sidewalks, and fencing should be complete in a couple of weeks. Dave Cowan - Excavation began yesterday, they should start pouring concrete for the pavilion soon. Cart Chapman - The slab will be poured soon for the pavilion, which arrives next week. BAMP - The playground will be here around July ]st and it will be placed west of the basketball court Five Star }Fater I~ell - This project was shut down for one week. They are working 24-7 now. Five Star Scoreboards - For one year we have been trying to work with Nick 'S to get scoreboards on the fields at Five Star. We have made some revisions to the contract, and have made several attempts to discuss them with Nick's, but they have not responded to our requests and we have never received a signed contract from them. F~e will go out for RFP's. Trail Master Plan - This will be on the Council agenda in August CIVIC CENTER - This has gone back to the Design Committee. At the last City Council meeting, it was decided to relocate the building from Five Star to placing it by the old library building and reducing the cost to $1 million dollars. The architect will make some revisions to the floor plan to design it as a multi-purpose facility, and will also address the needs of the theater/arts group. The sculpture garden is not an element of the design at this time, but could be in the future. LIBERTY BY THE LAKE - This year all the July 4th events will be done on July 3rd. l&'e have joined with the Chamber of Commerce to do a Business Expo as apart of the July 3rd festivities. The 5K Run starts at 8:00, the parade is at 10:00, the community BBQ starts at 11:30, there will be a Salsa Contest, ~4nything That Floats Regatta, music from various bands throughout the day, carnival games and rides and then the Fireworks when it gets dark. The Regular Session was adjourned at 7:25 p.m. The Executive Session was called to order at 7:26 p.m. __ 4. EXECUTIVE SESSION AS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 551.086 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE REGARDING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO WIT: A.TO DELIBERATE THE OFFER OF A FINANCIAL OR OTHER INCENTIVE TO A BUSINESS PROSPECT. 5. CONSIDERATION OF APPROPRIATE ACTION TO BE TAKEN AS A RESULT OF THE EXECUTIVE SESSION - The board will make a presentation to the 4A Board to show their appreciation for support of this endeavor. The Executive Session was closed at 7:33 p.m.
