RESOLUTION NO. ~-0~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO THE TEXAS TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION AND
THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
WHEREAS, the City of The Colony lies wholly within Denton County, one of
the fastest growing counties in the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, there is a direct correlation between infrastructure
improvements to our highway system and the positive economic impact these
improvements have on the counties and cities within our state; and
WHEREAS, Interstate Highway 35 represents the most significant north-
south, NAFTA thoroughfare in Texas and carries over 50 percent of the U.S.
trade with Mexico; and
WHEREAS, Denton County contains approximately 45 miles of Interstate
Highway 35, more than any other county in Texas; and
WHEREAS, State Highway 121 provides direct east/west access to the
burgeoning communities in Denton, Collin and north Dallas Counties; and
WHEREAS, a portion of State Highway 121 lies within the City of The
Colony and serves as a major thoroughfare within our city;
WHEREAS, State Highway 121 serves as a primary east/west congestion
reliever to Interstate Highway 635; and
WHEREAS, Farm-to-Market Road 2499 serves as a primary north/south
thoroughfare linking the communities of Denton County with Dallas/Fort Worth
International Airport and the cites beyond; and
WHEREAS, the Denton County Commissioners Court, the City of The Colony
and the other cities and chambers of commerce with Denton County recognize the
efforts made by the Texas Transportation Commission and the Texas Department
of Transportation to improve Interstate Highway 35, State Highway 121 and
Farm-to-Market 2499 within Denton County;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of The Colony, Texas wishes
to express its strong appreciation to the Texas Transportation Commission and
the Texas Department of Transportation for their support and efforts in
enhancing the transportation network which traverses Denton County.
