CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS ENDORSING THE PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, SENIOR/RETIRED LEADERSHIP AND CITY GOVERNMENT, A TRIAD, WORKING TOGETHER TO FOSTER A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH FOR REDUCING CRIMES AGAINST THE COLONY'S SENIOR CITIZENS. WHEREAS, the proportion of the population becoming senior citizens is increasing at a significant rate in the United States; and WHEREAS, senior Americans present a unique challenge, as well as an important source of support to the law enforcement community; and WHEREAS, the fear of crime and certain kinds of criminal victimization appear to be greater for the senior Americans; and WHEREAS, senior Americans provide the rest of us with the greatest resource of knowledge, wisdom, and history; and WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon The Colony Police Department to formulate and execute policies and procedures to provide protection and services to this vital segment of our population; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas that The Colony Police Department take a leadership role in raising the consciousness of the community to the needs and concerns of senior citizens by developing a TRIAD to be employed by The Colony Police Department in cooperation with the local chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons and the City of The Colony, which shall develop and implement crimes against senior Americans training programs and enhance the delivery of law enforcement services to local citizens.
