And with six council members present a quorum was established and the following items were
addressed:
1. Council to receive a report, discuss and provide direction to staff regarding
amendments to the Code of Ordinances relating to architectural requirements for
accessory structures.
Donna Bateman advised the council that the proposed changes are in red text in their backup for
this meeting. The references to "roof slope" have been stricken. She noted that metal will now
be acceptable for storage buildings. Photos illustrating acceptable and unacceptable structures
will be added to the ordinance.
Items discussed included whether "homemade" should be allowed and how to define it; the
maximum size for structures allowable without a building permit should be larger than 20 square
feet; whether fiberglass should be an acceptable roof material for a patio cover; and, what
constitutes an "outdoor kitchen". Citizen Jeff Connelly inquired as to whether "bounce houses"
would be included. It was noted the standards are for permanent-type structures. A definition
for arbors and gazebos should be added. The term "architecturally compatible" will be stricken
throughout.
Revisions to the ordinance will be presented at the next council meeting for approval.
