MINUTES OF SPECIAL SESSION OF COUNCIL
HELD ON DECEMBER 10, 2007
The Special Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at
6:35 p.m. on the 10th day of December 2007, at City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas,
with the following roll call:

And with five council members present a quorum was established and the following items were
addressed:
1. Council to interview David Kovatch regarding possible appointment to the Denton
County Transportation Authority.
Council interviewed David Kovatch regarding his position as representative of the city to
the Denton County Transportation Authority.
2. Council to interview applicants to fill vacancies on the following advisory boards:
Technologies, Code Enforcement, Board of Adjustment, Cultural Arts, Economic
Development, and Community Development.
Council interviewed nine applicants for various openings on the advisory boards.
3. Council to discuss and consider making appointments for the City of The Colony
representative and alternate representative to the Denton County Transportation
Authority, and authorizing a resolution.
Motion to appoint Dave Kovatch as representative and Antonio Johnston as alternate
representative to the Denton County Transportation Authority- Harris; second by
Mikulec; motion passed with all ayes.

Council addressed items 4 and 5 collectively.
4. Council to discuss and consider making appointments to fin vacancies on various
advisory boards.
5. Council to discuss, consider and re-appoint seated board members on various
advisory boards.
Technologies
Councilmember Harris nominated Jacob Leick to fill a vacancy in Place 4; Bill Swink to
fill a vacancy in Place 7; Beverly Jones for Place 6; and to reappoint Andrew Turner.
Council voted unanimously in favor of these nominations.
Cultural Arts
Councilmember Marks nominated Sherry Goplin, Joan Lux, and Liz Ripperger. Council
voted unanimously in favor of these nominations. Councilmember Marshall nominated
Robert Lux to the remaining position. A vote of 4-2 (McCourry, Marks voting no)
resulted in the appointment of Robert Lux.
Community Development Corporation (4B)
Councilmember Marshall nominated John Sanders, Steve Sohn, Debby Short, Don
Beckel, and David Munden to fill a vacancy in Place 5. Council voted unanimously in
favor of these nominations.
Economic Development Corporation (4A)
Councilmember Marshall nominated Paul Koenig and Tom Tvardzik. Council voted
unanimously in favor of these nominations.
Code Enforcement
Mayor Dillard nominated Richard Kuether (unanimous votes in favor) and Robert
Taylor. A vote of 4-2 (Marks, Harris voting no) resulted in the appointment of Robert
Taylor.
Board of Adjustment
Councilmember Mikulec nominated Duane Sanders, Donna McCright, Rolando Reyes,
and Eddie McCormick to fill the vacant alternate position; Council voted unanimously in
favor of these nominations.
Planning & Zoning
Councilmember Harris nominated DeVille Hubbard, Marlene Milsak, and Karen Hames.
Council voted unanimously in favor of these nominations.
Library
Councilmember Marks nominated Sandi Gehrke, Diana Kruzich, Wanda Spears, and Sue
Parks. Council voted unanimously in favor of these nominations.

And with no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
