COLONY, TEXAS AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 95-16 PASSED
AND APPROVED ON MAY 15, 1995, RELATING TO PROCEDURES
FOR CITY COUNCIL
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS:
SECTION 1
A. That Resolution No. 95-16 shall be amended by adding the following:
Section V. ATYENDANCE
1. No member shall be excused from attendance at a council meeting
except for good and valid reasons, as listed below. [Charter Ref. 2.04 (b)]
a. Illness
b. Death of the Councilmember's family or associate.
c. Vacation
d. Employment
(If the City Council determines that a member's employment is
causing chronic absences, the City Council may ask the member
to resign or may remove the member from office pursuant to
Section 2.04 (b) of the Charter.)
The City Council may deem other reasons as good and valid on a case by case
basis.
2. Any member of council who will not be attendance at any council
meeting shall contact either the Mayor, the City Manager or the City
Secretary and inform them of their expected absence and state the reason for
the absence.
Council Meeting Procedures
3. An official roll call shall be taken at each council meeting. The City
Secretary shall call the name of each member. Their presence or absence at
the meeting shall be noted in the minutes of the meeting. If a member is
absent, the reason for their absence shall be noted in the minutes as well.
4. The Mayor, or in the absence of the Mayor, the Mayor Pro-tem, or in
the absence of the Mayor Pro-tem, the Deputy Mayor Pro-tem shall call the
meeting to order. In the absence of all three of these members, the meeting
shall be called to order by the City Secretary and a temporary presiding
officer shall be elected.
SECTION 2. That Section V of Resolution No. 95-16 shall become Section VI.
SECTION 3. This Resolution supersedes City of The Colony Resolution No. 95-16
passed and approved on May 15, 1995.
