HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/11/2005 City Council-SS 00818() July II, 2005 Special Session I MINUTES OF SPECIAL SESSION OF COUNCIL HELD ON JUL Y 11,2005 The Special Session of the City Council ofthe City of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at 6:06 p.m. on the 11th day of July 2005, at City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, with the following roll call: John Dillard Mayor Present Allen Harris Councilmember Present Scott Ward Councilmember Present Joe McCourry Mayor Pro-tem Absent (business) Kirk Mikulec Councilmember Present Perry Schrag Councilmember Present Joel Marks Councilmember Present (arrived 6:50) And with five council members present a quorum was established and the following items were addressed: 1. EXECUTIVE SESSION as authorized by Section 551.074 of the TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE regarding personnel, to wit: I A. Interview applicants for appointment to the Planning and Zoning Commission to fill a vacancy in Place 6. Reconvene to Open Session at 7:10 p.m. 2. Consider any appropriate action to be taken as a result of Executive Session. A. Appointment to Planning and Zoning Commission. City Attorney Bob Hager advised Mayor Dillard that since there are three applicants, a preliminary vote of council should be taken in order to eliminate one ofthe candidates. Then council should vote a second time to determine who will be appointed. Councilmember Ward nominated Deborah Morrison; Councilmember Harris nominated Clark Switzer; Kirk Mikulec nominated Rick Casterline. Vote number one: Deborah Morrison received two votes; Clark Switzer received one vote; Rick Casterline received three votes. Clark Switzer was eliminated and the council proceeded to the second round of voting. I Deborah Morrison received four votes and Rick Casterline received two votes.
