Manning, Mayor Present John Gordon, Councilmember Present Lewis Jue, Councilmember Present David Stanwick, Councilmember Present Al Garcia, Councilmember Present John Dillard, Councilmember Absent (Business) Jeff Meyers, Councilmember Absent (Personal) and with five ~resent a quorum was established, the followi~.~, items were addressed. ITEM DESCRIPTION SOURCE STATUS 1.1 Consideration of an Ordinance of the City Council of the City Council of The Colony, Texas, canvassing the returns and declaring the results of an election held in said city on the 6th day of May 2000, for the purpose of electing three Councilmembers for said city Mayor Manning read the ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 6TH DAY OF MAY 2000, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THREE COUNCILMEMBERS FOR SAID CITY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the election returns duly and legally made showed that there were cast at said election 638 valid and legal votes, and that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: FOR COUNCILMEMBER PLACE 3 David Stanwick 90 Nancy Shaw .70 FOR COUNCILMEMBER PLACE 4 Rick Manser 29 A1 Garcia 169 David Greer 63 FOR COUNCILMEMBER PLACE 6 Jeff Meyers 93 Dave Kovatch 122 WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 7.04 of Chapter VII of the Home Rule Charter of the City, in order to be declared elected, a candidate must receive a majority of the legal votes cast for the office or place for which such person is a candidate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 3. That the duly elected members of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, elected May 6, 2000, for Councilmembers Place 3, 4, and 6 and subject to the taking and signing of the oaths as provided by the laws of the State of Texas, are as follows: Councilmember Place 3 David Stanwick Councilmember Place 4 Al Garcia Councilmember Place 6 Dave Kovatch Motion to approve the ordinance as written - Stanwick; second - Garcia, carried with all ayes. 1.2 Administer Oath of Office to newly elected City Councilmembers Secretary Motion to postpone to May 15, 2000 -$tanwick; second- Garcia, carried with all ayes.
