MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL SESSION OF COUNCIL
HELD ON
APRIL 22, 1998
The SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to
order at 6:05 p.m. on the 22~ day of April 1998 at City Hall, with the following council roll call:
Mary Blair Watts, Mayor Present
Bill Longo, Councilmember Present
Bernetta Henville-Shannon, Councilmember Present
David Stanwick, Councilmember Present
Wilma Avey, Councilmember Present
John Dillard, Councilmember Absent (business)
Dave Kovatch, Councilmember Absent (Arrived 6:10)
and with six present a quorum was established, the following items were addressed:
6:06 p.m.
1.0 EXECUTIVE SESSION AS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 551.071 OF THE
LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE RELATING TO LITIGATION, TO-WIT:
B. GOODY-GOODY v. CITY OF THE COLONY
6:33 Reconvene in open session
1.1 Consideration of any appropriate action to be taken as a result of the executive
session
Motion to retain the firm of Nichols, Jackson, Dillard, Hager and Smith L.L.P., including
Pete Smith and Jason Marshall with that law firm, to continue to represent the city in the
case of Goody-Goody Liquor v. City of The Colony, Case No. 97-50641-367 Denton County,
Texas, and to pursue acts necessary to continue the case, including an appeal to the Texas
Court of Appeals - Avey; second; Henville-Shannon, carried with the following vote:
Ayes - Longo, Henville-Shannon, Avey, Kovatch, Watts
Noes - Stanwick
With no further business to address, Mayor Watts adjourned the meeting at 6:34 p.m.
