CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS
RESOLUTION NO.
WHEREAS, the citizens and taxpayers of the City of The Colony need relief from
future unfunded federal mandates; and
WHEREAS, the cumulative impact of federal legislative and regulatory requirements
directly and adversely affect the citizens of our community by requiting ns to perform duties
without any consideration of local circumstances, costs, or capacity; and
WHEREAS, federal mandates require compliance regardless of other pressing local
needs and priorities affecting the health, welfare, and safety of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Mandate Accountability and Reform Act is currently before
the Congress; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Mandate Accountability and Reform Act would provide
significant accountability and procedural safeguards to protect municipalities from future
unfunded mandates:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Federal Mandate Accountability and Reform Act be passed
before Congress adjourns this session.
SECTION 2. That the City of The Colony will participate in efforts to urge the
passage of the Federal Mandate Accountabili~.a~.d Reform Act.
