HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/24/1995 City Council 6,© MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 24, 1995 The Special Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th day of October, 1995 at~ City Hall with the following Council roll call: William W. Manning, Mayor Presem William Longo, Councilman Present Mary Watts, Councilman Present Kay Hardin, Councilman Absent John Dillard, Mayor Pro-Tern Presem David Helman, Councilman Present and with five present, a quorum was established and the following items were addressed: 1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 2. CONSIDERATION BY THE CITY COUNCIL TO DESIGNATE THE READING OF THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE AS A FIRST READING AND THAT SUCH ANNEXATION WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE UNTIL SAID ORDINANCE IS READ A SECOND TIME TO BE COMPLETED IN 90 DAYS. Mayor Manning explained it was necessarY to read this ordinance to cominue the annexation process. Our Charter does not require two readings of an ordinance for it to become effective but the city of Carrollton has not disannexed this property at this time so we cannot annex it. With a first reading tonight, we will have up to 90 days before the second reading to accomplish the annexation. Motion to annex the property upon second reading of the annexation ordinance, to be accomplished within 90 days - Watts; second - Longo. All voted aye. 3. FIRST READING OF ORDINANCE CONSIDERING ANNEXATION OF THE BELOW DESCRIBED ADJACENT AND CONTIGUOUS TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS APPROXIMATELY 267 ACRES LOCATED SOUTH OF SH 121 BETWEEN FM 544, MIDWAY ROAD, MCKAMY TRAIL AND PLANO PARKWAY Mayor Manning read the heading of the annexation ordinance and indicated the second reading would be within 90 days. 2 With no further business to address, Mayor Manning adjourned the meeting at 6:35 pm.
