HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/08/1995 City CouncilUOb68.z MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON MAY 8, 1995 The Special Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on the 8th day of May, 1995, at City Hall with the following Council roll call: William W. Manning, Mayor Present Mike Lynch, Mayor Pro-tem Absent Kay Hardin, Councilman Present Rob Burchard, Councilman Present John Dillard, Councilman Present G.David Heiman, Councilman Present and with five present, a quorum was established and the following items were addressed: 1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 2. CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION HELD ON THE 6TH DAY OF MAY, 1995 IN THE CITY OF THE COLONY Mayor Manning read portions of the ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 6TH DAY OF MAY, 1995, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THE MAYOR AND THREE COUNCILMEMBERS FOR SAID CITY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the election returns duly and legally made showed that there were cast at said election 1827 valid and legal votes, and that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: FOR MAYOR Bill Manning 1061 Toby Pollard 758 2 00,568 FOR COUNCILMAN PLACE 1 Mike Lynch 751 Bill Longo 1052 FOR COUNCILMAN PLACE 2 Gary McClure 759 Mary Blair Watts 1019 FOR COUNCILMAN PLACE Christine Donald 188 G. David Heiman 254 Section 3. That the duly elected members of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, elected May 6, 1995, for Mayor, Councilmember Place 1, Councilmember Place 2, and Councilmember Place 6, and subject to the taking of the oaths as provided by the laws of the State of Texas, are as follows: Mayor William W. Manning Councilmember Place 1 Bill Longo Councilmember Place 2 Mary Blair Watts Councilmember Place 6 G. David Heiman Motion to approve the ordinance as written - Burchard; second - Hardin, carried with a unanimous roll call vote. 3. ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE TO NEWLY ELECTED COUNCILMEMBERS City Secretary, Patti Hicks, administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected councilmembers as follows: Mayor William W. Manning Councilman Place One - William Longo Councilman Place Two - Mary Blair Watts Councilman Place Six - G. David Heiman 00 68 Each newly elected member introduced their family members who were present and took their seats on the dais.
