MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING
HELD ON
MAY 9, 1994
The Special Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order
at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th day of May, 1994 at City Hall with the following Council roll call:
William W. Manning, Mayor Absent
Mike Lynch, Councilman Present
Toby Pollard, Councilman Present
Joe Agnew, Councilman Absent
Tom Bogan, Councilman Absent
John Dillard, Councilman Present
Joel Marks, Mayor Pro-tern Present
and with four present, a quorum was established and the following items were addressed:
1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
2. CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING AND DECLARING
THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY ON THE 7TH DAY
OF MAY, 1994 AND ORDERING A RUN-OFF ELECTION
Mayor Pro-tern Marks read portions of the Ordinance as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY,
TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN
ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 7TH DAY OF MAY, 1994, FOR THE
PURPOSE OF ELECTING FOUR COUNCILMEMBERS FOR SAID CITY;
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
VqHEREAS, the election returns duly and legally made showed that there were cast
at said election 497 valid and legal votes, and that each of the candidates in said election
received the following votes:

FOR COUNCILMAN PLACE 4

FOR COUNCILMAN PLACE 5

Section 3. That the duly elected members of the City Council of the City of The
Colony, Texas, elected May 7, 1994, for Councilmember Place 3, Councilmember Place 4,
Councilmember Place 5, and Councilmember Place 6, and subject to the taking of the oaths
as provided by the laws of the State of Texas, are as follows:
Councilmember Place 3 Kay Hardin
Councilmember Place 4 Rob Burchard
Councilmember Place 5 John Dillard
Councilmember Place 6 Lynda Tare
Motion to approve the ordinance as written - Pollard; second - Dillard, carried with a
unanimous roll call vote.
3. ADMINISTRATION OF OATH OF OFFICE OF NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS
City Secretary Patti Hicks administered the Oath of Office to newly elected
councilmembers, Kay Hardin, Place 3, John Dillard, Place 5 and Lynda Tate, Place 6.
No action was necessary for the below item.
4. CONSIDERATION OF REQUEST TO WAIVE THE HOLIDAY WEEK-END
RESTRICTION FOR SPECIAL EVENTS TO BE HELD AT STEWART CREEK
PARK

With no further business to address, Deputy Mayor Pro-tem Dillard adjourned the meeting
at 7:10 p.m.
