HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/01/1993 City Counciloo48oa MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON JUNE 1, 1993 The Special Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd day of June, 1993 at City Hall with the following Council roll call: William W. Manning, Mayor Present Mike Lynch, Councilman Present Toby Pollard, Councilman Present Joe Agnew, Councilman Present Tom Bogan, Councilman Absent John Dillard, Councilman Present Joel Marks, Mayor Pro-rem Present and with six present, a quorum was established and the following items were addressed: 1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 2. CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A RUN-OFF ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF THE COLONY ON MAY 29, 1993 Mayor Manning read portions of the ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A RUN-OFF ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 29TH DAY OF MAY, 1993, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING ONE COUNCILMEMBER FOR SAID CITY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the election returns duly and legally made showed that them were cast at said election 1078 valid and legal votes, and that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: FOR COUNCILMAN PLACE 1 Barbara Crocker 473 Mike Lynch 605 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: 2 004804 Section 3. That the duly elected member of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, elected May 29, 1993, for Councilmember Place 1, and subject to the taking of the oath as provided by the laws of the State of Texas, are as follows: Councilmember Place 1 Mike Lynch Motion to approve the ordinance as written - Marks; second - Dillard, carried with a unanimous roll call vote. 3. ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE TO NEWLY ELECTED COUNCILMAN PLACE ONE City Secretary Patti Hicks administered the Oath of Office to Councilman Lynch. Mayor Manning stated that the election of the Mayor Pro-tem will take place next week and any member of council interested in that position should make that interest known to other members. The Mayor also stated that all members of council should be prepared for every meeting, and if they come to a meeting without being prepared, they should expect to be informed that they are not prepared.
