The School Resource Officer Program will be a combined effort between the City of The
Colony and the Lewisville Independent School District. The School Resource Officer will
be assigned to work in The Colony High School and will focus 100% of his time with these
students and their parents as well as the school faculty members.
By placing a police officer in the high school, the image the student has of the
authority figure should become more positive, increasing the chances that the student
will grow into a law abiding citizen. Offenses and incidents should decrease, simply by
having an officer available will be a deterrent to many potential violators. Less off-
campus individuals will be deterred from coming onto the campus thus helping to prevent
activity such as drug/alcohol abuse and juvenile gang activity.
