A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS ESTABLISHING A LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City to expedite the legislative process, and; WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a Legislative Committee would benefit the legislative process; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That a Legislative Committee for the City of The Colony be and is hereby established. Section 2. That the purposes of the Legislative Committee shall be: A. To act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in the development and adoption of certain ordinances and resolutions. B. To make recommendations to the City Council regarding certain ordinances and resolutions which are brought before the City Council for action. Section 3. That the organization of the Legislative Committee shall be as follows: A. That the Legislative Committee shall consist of three (3) members of the City Council and one citizen, appointed by the Mayor. B. That the Legislative Committee shall meet as necessary to review and make recommendations regarding certain ordinances and resolutions which have been prepared by City Staff or the City Attorney, before these documents are presented to the City Council for adoption. C. That the Legislative Committee shall provide a written recommendation to the City Council, which will be made a part of the City Council packet prepared for the Council meeting at which the ordinance or resolution is to be addressed. D. That the Legislative Committee shall be re-appointed by the Mayor. Section 4. That this Resolution shall become effective from and after the date of its passage.
