HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/02/1987 City Council 00 80 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 2, 1987 The Regular Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd day of November, 1987 at City Hall with following Council roll call: Don Amick, Mayor Absent Rick Harris,Mayor Pro-tem Present Johnny Spears,Councilman Present Michael Robinson,Councilman Present Steve Glazener,Councilman Absent Harvey Bradley,Councilman Present Marlene Poole,Councilman Absent and with four members present a quorum was established and the following items were addressed: 1. PUBLIC HEARING regarding the annexing of four (4) tracts of land totaling approximately 197 acres contiguous to the western boundary of the corporate limits of the City of The Colony, Texas, situated in Denton County and more fully described in the real property records of Denton County, Texas in Abstract No. 234 Councilman Bradley moved to open the Public Hearing and Councilman Spears seconded the motion which carried with all members voting Aye. Mayor Pro-tem Harris explained that this hearing was to have been held at the site of the annexation, but after speaking with family members of Mrs. Dixie Tittle, owner of the property in question, it was decided the hearing would be held in the Council chambers. Mayor Pro-tem Harris stated that Marlene Wise, Mrs. Tittle's daughter, had advised Mr. Hall, City Manager, that Mrs. Tittle has no interest in being annexed into the City of The Colony, going to say that the City had been under the false assumption that this would be a voluntary annexation and after realizing it is not, there would be no action taken at this time. Marlene Wise was present and did express that the family is not interested in being annexed into the City of The Colony. Councilman Robinson moved to close the Public Hearing and Councilman Spears seconded the motion which carried with all members voting Aye. At this time, with no further business to address, Councilman Spears moved to adjourn the meeting and Councilman Robinson seconded the motion which carried with all members voting Aye.
