HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/28/1987 City Council MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1987 The Special Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th day of September, 1987 at City Hall with following Council roll call: Don Amick, Mayor Present Rick Harris, Mayor Pro-rem Present Johnny Spears,Councilman Present Michael Robinson,Councilman Present Steve Glazener,Councilman Present(arrived 8:00p.m.) Harvey Bradley,Councilman Present Marlene Poole,Councilman Absent and with six members present a quorum was established and the following items were addressed: 1. CLOSED DOOR SESSION, AS AUTHORIZED BY ARTICLE 6252-17, V.A.C.S., SECTION 2 G, REGARDING PERSONNEL, TO-WIT: A. INTERVIEW FOR BOARD APPOINTMENTS PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION PARK AND RECREATION BOARD BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT AND APPEALS LIBRARY BOARD While in Closed Door, the Council interviewed the following persons for possible appointment or re-appointment to various City Advisory Boards: Lowell Barton Sherry Schuyler Ron Robinette Robert Doss David Nelson Ed Canada Morris Seay Ralph Sears Kathy Phillips Steve Bissett Daniel Dundon Don Clemens Steve Withers Gary La Crone Victor Williams David Martin James Althaus At 9:00 p.m. Mayor called a 5 minutes recess and upon reconvening in closed door continued the interviews. At 9:35 p.m. the Council convened in open session and addressed the following item: 2. CONSIDERATION OF ANY APPROPRIATE ACTION RESULTING FROM THE CLOSED DOOR SESSION IN REGARD TO BOARD APPOINTMENTS Library Board Councilman Bradley moved to appoint Morris Seay as an alternate to the Library Board and to re-appoint James Althaus to Place 3 and Lowell Barton to Place 2 on the Library Board. Councilman Harris seconded the motion which carried with a unanimous roll call vote. Council does want to continue interview to fill .the vacant Place 1 position. Board of Adjustment and Appeals Councilman Harris moved to re-appoint Ralph Sears and Gary La Crone to the Board of Adjustment and Appeals. Councilman Bradley seconded the motion which carried with a unanimous roll call vote. Council does want to interview the remaining three members for possible re-appointment. Planning and Zoning Commission Councilman Glazener moved to appoint Robert Doss to fill the unexpired term of Tom Dawsey, Place 4 on the Planning and Zoning Commission and Councilman Harris seconded the motion which carried with a unanimous roll call vote. Park and Recreation Board Councilman Glazener moved to re-appoint David Martin to Place 3 and to appoint Kathy Phillips to Place 4 on the Park and Recreation Board. Councilman Bradley seconded the motion which carried with a unanimous roll call vote. Council does want to interview the three members currently up for possible re-appointment if they are interested. Mayor Amick directed the City Secretary to write appropriate letters to those interviewed and advise them of the outcome of their interview. With no further business to discuss, Councilman Harris moved to adjourn and Councilman Glazener seconded the motion which carried with all members voting Aye.
