HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/14/1986 City Council MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON APRIL 14, 1986 Before calling the above named Council Meeting to ~rder, Mayor Sample administered the Oath of Office to the fo]lowing Councilmembers: Councilman David W. Dye, III Place 3 Councilman Don Amick Place 4 Councilman Harvey Bradley Place 5 Councilman Mar]ene Poole Place 6 The Special Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony was called to order at 7:30 p.m. in Fire St ation Number Two with the following members present: Larry D. Sample Mayor David W. Dye, III Councilman Don Amick Councilman Harvey Bradley Councilman Marlene Poole Councilman with Councilman Harris and Councilman Arrambide absent due to persona] reasons, a quorum was established and the following items were addressed: 1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Sample led the audience and the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. At this time, Mayor Sample asked the new Counci]members to introduce members of their family present at the meeting. Councilman Poole introduced her mother, Elaine Campbell, her husband, Gene, and her daughter Rhonda, son-in-law, Bi]] and Grandaughter Shea. Councilman Bradley introduced his wife, Gail, and his daughter, Stacy. Councilman Amick introduced his wife, Anita, and daughters, Tracy and Lisa. Councilman Dye introduced his wife, Jessie. At this time Mayor Sample introduced his wife Christina. Mayor Sample stated that he is pleased with the new Council and welcomed Councilmen Bradley and Dye. 2. CONSIDERATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF RESIGNATION FROM THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION. Councilman Amick moved to accept the resignation of Harvey Bradley from the Planning and Zoning Commission. Councilman Poo]e seconded the motion which carried with all emmbers voting Aye. 3. CONSIDERATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF RESIGNATION FROM THE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD Councilman Amick mvoed to aeept the resignation of David Dye from the park and Recreation Board. Councilman Poo]e seconded the motion which carried with all members voting Aye. 4. ADMINISTER OATHS OF OFFICE TO PLACE 3, PLACE 4, PLACE 5, AND PLACE 6 COUNCILMEMBERS. Mayor Sample announced that the new members had been sworn in prior to the meeting being called to order so that a quorum could be established. 5. CONSIDERATION OF A RESOLUTION TO NOMINATE A CANDIDATE TO FILL A VACANCY ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE DENTON COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT. Mayor Sample explained that there had been a death of one of the present members on the Appraisal District Board and that is now necessary to appoint a new member to fill the vacancy. Councilman Amick moved to appoint Johnny Spears by Resolution. Councilman Dye seconded the motion which carried with a unanimous roll call vote. 6. CONSIDERATION OF A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENT AGREEMENT AND A REQUEST FOR RELINQUISHMENT OF THE 50 ACRE B.B. OWENS TRACT FROM THE CITY OF FRISCO. Janice Carroll, City Manager said that the documents had been provided by our City Attorney and Frisco City Attorney, Richard Abernathy had advised that Frisco Mayor Elliott has no problem with this agreement. Ms. i Ca~.roll went on to say that Lewisville Independent School District is acting upon this agreement at their meeting this same night, per Dr. Downing. Mayor Sample read the caption of the:Resolution as written: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY TO EXECUTE A BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENT AGREE- MENT WITH THE CITY OF FRSIGO, TEXAS AND TO EXECUTE A REQUEST FOR RELINQUISHMENT OF A TRACT OF LAND GENERALLY KNOWN AS THE B.B. OWENS TRACT FROM THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF FRISCO, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Councilman Amick moved to approve the Resolution as written and Councilman Bradley seconded the motion which carried with a roll call vote. With no further business to discuss Councilman Amick moved to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Poole seconded the motion which carried with all members voting Aye.
