HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/12/1985 City Council 002076 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON AUGUST 12, 1985 The SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 7:00 p.m. with the following members present: Larry Sample Mayor Rick Harris Councilman Tom Arrambide Councilman Helen Gray Councilman Don Amick Councilman and with Councilman Poole and Councilman Dodds being absent due to personal reasons, however, a quorum was established. 1. PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING THE ANNEXATION OF A 589 ACRE LAND TRACT GENERALLY LOCATED SOUTH OF THE SOUTHERN CITY LIMIT BOUNDARY AND BOUND ON THE EAST BY THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN RAILROAD UPON THE REQUEST OF HENRY BILLINGSEY. Councilman moved to open the Public Hearing with a second from Councilman Harris. The motion carried with all members voting aye. Janice Carroll, City Manager read the petition from Henry Billingsley requesting annexation and also present the Service Plan. (See attachment "A") With no discussion, Councilman Arrambide moved to close the Public Hearing with a second from Councilman Amick. The motion carried with all members voting aye. Mayor Sample called for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Amick made the motion to adjourn and Councilman Harris seconded. The motion carried with a unanimous roll call vote. Corporation. In accordance with 970A Section 10B VACS the ¢ollowing is a statement of governmental service that must be provided in sixty (60) days and capital improvemet,ts t~at must be provided in two and one-half (2}) .~ears. 1. Presently the City does have a contract with Denton County to provide fire protection to this area and this service will be continued. Arnbulance service can be provided immediately. This land is presently rural and has few inhabitants. A large number o£ medical calls is not expected. 2. The Police Department will review immediately the provision of a new district which will provide for patrol ol this area based upon need. 3. ~aste collection can be provided upon request. #. Road and park maintenance can be maintained. There are no recreational lacilities on this land. No capital improvements, i.e.., streets~ fire station, etc., are needed unless the land is subdivided and developed. Water and sewer service presently is not provided by the City.
