MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
THE COLONY, TEXAS
HELD ON
APRIL 8, 1985
The SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony,
Texas was called to order at 7:30 p.m. with the following members
present:
Larry D. Sample Mayor
Rick Harris Councilman
Noel Long "
Helen Gray "
Don Amick "
Charles Dodds "
Marlene Poole "
and with all members present a quorum was established.
1. CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RESULTS OF THE APRIL
6TH CITY OFFICERS ELECTION AND CALLING OF A RUN-OFF ELECTION FOR
SAME, IF REQUIRED
Mayor Sample read the Ordinace caption aloud and summarized the
remainder of the ordinance as follows:(For a complete copy, refer
to Ordinance #332 passed and approved this date.)
ORDINANCE #332
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS,
CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL
ELECTION HELD APRIL 6, 1985, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THE MAYOR
AND TWO (2) COUNCILPERSONS, PLACE I AND PLACE 2, OF THE CITY OF
THE COLONY, TEXAS, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
There were 1289 valid and legal votes cast, and that eacl; of the
candidates in said election received the following votes:

It was found and determined that no candidate received the majority
of votes cast for Place 2, therefore, it is necessary to conduct
a run-off election, pursuant to Section 7.05 of Chapter VII of
the HOME RULE CHARTER of the City. The run off election between
the two candidates who received the highest number of votes cast
will be held on the 11th day of May, 1985. The candidates on
that ballot will be Noel Long and Thomas Arrambide.

The Ordinance not only canvassed the votes, it also called for
a run-off election to be held on the 11th day of May, 1985.
Sherri Campbell and Kay Einig were appointed judges with Diane
Kruzick and Dee Cole as alternates.
Couniclman Dodds moved to approve the ordinance as written.
Seconded by Councilman Harris, the motion carried with a
unanimous roll call vote.
2. CLOSED DOOR SESSION, AS AUTHORIZED BY ARTICLE 6252-17 OF V.A.C.S.,
SECTION 2E, REGARDING PENDING LITIGATION
After reconvening in open session, and with no further action to be
taken by the Council at this time, Councilman Dodds made a motion to
adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Councilman Harris, the motion carried
with a unanimous vote.
Mayor Sample formally adjourned the meeting at 9:15 p.m.
