HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 91-13 CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS SUPPORTING THE FIRE PREVENTION AND FIRE-FIGHTING ACTIVITIES OF THE TEXAS FOREST SERVICE WHEREAS, approximately 30,000 wildland fires cause over $3.0 million in property loss each year in Texas; and WHEREAS, more than 80 percent of the citizens of Texas occupy only three percent of our land; and WHEREAS, the majority of rural Texas is protected by volunteer fire departments who lack proper funding, training, and equipment; and ' ' WHEREAS, %he Honorable Bill Simms has filed S. B. 20, the Rural Mobilization Ac% and the Honorable Robert Junnell has filed H.B. 1509; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS THAT: Sec%ion 1. That the City Council of the City of The Colony do hereby support S.B. 20. ' ' Sec%ion 2. That significant public safety concerns exist go declare this to be an emergency and ghat this action receive priori%y attention in %he 72nd Legislagure. 1991.
