HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/08/1984 City Council 00181i MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS HELD ON AUGUST 8, 1984 The Emergency Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 7:30 p.m. with the following members present: Larry D. Sample Mayor Rick Harris Councilman Helen Gray Councilman Don Amick Councilman Charles Dodds Councilman Marlene Peele Councilman and with Councilman Long absent; however, a quorum was established. 1. CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSAL TO RAISE AD VALOREM TAX RATE BY 3.9% OR 1¢ Councilman Amick made a motion to call a public hearing to consider a proposal to raise the ad valorem tax rate by 3.9% or 1¢ and to follow the time table prepared by the City Manager. Seconded by Councilman Peele, the motion passed with the following vote: Absent and /or not voting: Dodds and Long Ayes: Ail other members voted aye The timetable is as follows: 8/9 Publish notice of hearing for tax increase over 3% 8/20 Public Hearing on tax increase 8/23 Publish Notice of second hearing where the 3% tax increase will be adopted 8/27 Second meeting on tax increase and passage of Ord. to levy tax 2. CLOSED DOOR SESSION AS AUTHORIZED BY ART. 6252-17 SECTION 2G OF V.A.C.S. REGARDING PROPOSED PERSONNEL IN THE 1984/85 FISCAL YEAR Upon reconvening in open session and without any further action to be taken by the Council at this time, Councilman Dodds moved to adjourn the meeting.
