OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS
HELD ON
JUNE 13, 1984
A SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City
of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
with the following members present:
Larry D. Sample Mayor
Helen Gray Councilman
Charles Dodds Councilman
Marlene Poole Councilman
and with Councilmen Amick and Long absent; however, a
quorum was established.
1. CLOSED DOOR SESSION AS AUTHORIZED BY ARTICLE
6252-17 OF VERNON'S ANNOTATED CIVIL STATUTES
REGARDING PERSONNEL
Mayor Sample announced the Council would reconvene
in open session after this agenda item.
When Mayor Sample reconvened in Open Session, he
announced the Council would address an Emergency
Agenda item that was posted at 9:20 a.m. this morning.
It being as follows:
CONSIDERATION OF ACCEPTANCE OF RESIGNATION
OF SCOTT NORTH FROM THE CITY COUNCIL
Councilman Poole moved to accept Mr. North's
resignation. Seconded by Councilman Gray,
the motion passed with the following roll
call vote:
Ayes: All members present voted aye
Noes: None
Mayor Sample then continued with the regular agenda
items as follow:
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mayor Sample stated that the Council had before
them the minutes from the May 21st, June 4th on
site and June 4th regular meeting as well as the
June 10th meeting. Councilman Dodds moved to
approve the minutes from all four meetings as
presented. Seconded by Councilman Poole, the
motion passed with a unanimous vote.
3. REVIEW PROPOSED 1984/85 POLICE DEPARTMENT BUDGET
Following a lengthy discussion, Mayor Sample
advised the City Manager to get together with all
departments heads to review and refine their
budget proposals and then bring bring a reasonable
budget back to the Council for its review and
approval.
Councilman Dodds said he still feels like a retreat
is necessary in order to bring the Council up to
date on the various activities in each department.
4. REVIEW FEE SCHEDULES AND ZONING ORDINANCES
City Manager, Janice Carroll said we were
considering increasing basic fee's.
Mayor Sample, in reviewing the Fire Departments
memo, said he liked the idea of higher rates
for call's outside the City limits.
The Council then briefly reviewed other
memo's from the following departments: Library,
Public Works, Police and Parks & Recreation.
They also briefly discussued various permit fee's
by the Inspections Department.
Mayor Sample said he would like to see Paige
Road posted with No Parking signs except for
Sundays before this street becomes a major
problem.
With no further action to be taken by the Council,
Councilman Dodds moved to adjourn the meeting.
Seconded by Councilman Poole, the motion passed
with a unanimous vote.
Mayor Sample adjourned the meeting at 10:00 p.m.
