HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/04/1984 City Council-SS 0017: t Minutes of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas held on June 4, 1984 A SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was call to order at 7:00 p.m. on a tract of land at the most westernly end of North Colony Boulevard on Stewart Creek Peninsula, with the following members present: Larry D. Sample Mayor Scott North Councilman Helen Gray Councilman Charles Dodds Councilman and with Councilmembers Long, Amick and Poole absent; however, a quorum was established. 1. PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING ANNEXATION INTO THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY A 205.211 ACRE LAND TRACT GENERALLY LOCATED DUE WEST OF THE WESTERN CITY LIMIT BOUNDARY ON STEWART CREEK PENINSULA Councilman Dodds moved to open the Public Hearing. Seconded by Councilman North, the motion passed with a unanimous vote. Janice Carroll, City Manager, presented the Service Plan as follows: Service Plan Service Plan for 205.211 acre land tract generally located due West of the Western City limit boundary on Stewart Creek Peninsula. In accordance with 970A Section 10B VACS the following is a statement of governmental service that must be provided in sixty days and capital improvements that must be provided in two and one half years. 1. Presently the City does have a contract with Denton County to provide fire protection to this area and this service will be continued. Ambulance service can be provided immediately. This land is not developed and has few inhabitants. A large number of medical calls is not expected. 2. The Police Department will review immediately the provision of a new district which will provide for patrol of this area based on need. 3. Waste collection can be provided upon request. 4. Road and park maintenance can be maintained. There are no recreational facilities on this land. 5. No capital improvements, i.e., streets, fire station, etc., are needed until the land is subdivided and consequently developed. 6. Water and sewer service is not provided by the City. Th~s area is included in The Colony Municipal Utility District #1 for these services. OOiTi o Mayor Sample asked if there was anyone present who wished to speak for or against this anne×- at Jori. There was no one. Councilman Dodds then moved to close this Public Hearing. Seconded by Councilman North, the motion passed with a unanimous vote. With no further action to be taken by the Council at this time, Councilman Dodds moved to adjourn this meeting. Seconded by Councilman North, this motion passed with a unanimous vote as well.
