HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/13/1983 City Council MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY HELD ON APRIL 13, 1983 A SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at 7:30 p.m. with the following members present: Gene Pollard Mayor Scott North Councilman Norman Adeler Councilman Charlie Parker Councilman Char]es Dodds Councilman Mar]ene Poole Councilman and with no members absent; thus, a quorum was established. 1. ADMINISTER OATHS OF OFFICE TO MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN, PLACES i AND 2 Mayor Pollard called the meeting to order and stated that he would administer the Oath of Office first to Councilman Scott North, who was re-elected to Place 1 for another term. Next, Mayor Pollard recognized Noel Long, stating that Mr. Long was the winner of the Place 2 Council seat. He then administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Long, and Councilman Long joined the other Council members at the table. Mayor Pollard then recognized Mr. Larry Sample, stating that he was the winner of the Mayoral race, and he then administered the Oath of Office and Mayor Sample took his place at the Council table for the remainder of the meeting. Mayor Sample then recognized Councilman North, who requested that Mr. Pollard return to the front. Councilman North then presented, on behalf of the Council, a plaque to Mr. Pollard commemorating his years of service to The Colony. Councilman North stated that the plaque did have the original City gavel which was retired so that it could be presented to Mr. Pollard. Mrs. Sample was then recognized, and she presented Mayor Sample with a new gavel. At this time, Mayor Sample recognized Councilman Poole, who thanked all of those who helped in the preparation of the arrange- ments for the reception which was to immediately follow the meeting. Councilman Poole then explained to those present that there would be a reception immediately following the adjournment of the meeting to welcome the new Council members and also in recognition of former mayor, Gene Pollard. There being no further business to be conducted by the Council, Councilman Dodds moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Councilman North, the motion passed by the following vote: Ayes: All members present voted aye Noes: None Mayor Sample adjourned the meeting at 8:10 p.m. · ATTEST: JANICE CARROLL, CITY SECRETARY -1-
