HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/18/1983 City Council MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY HELD ON MARCH 18, 1983 A WORK SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at 7:30 p.m. with the following members present: Gene Pollard Mayor Scott North Councilman Norman Adeler Councilman Char]ie Parker Councilman Charles Dodds Councilman Marlene Poole Councilman and with no members absent; thus, a quorum was established. Also attending this work session were the following members of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of The Colony, Texas: Robert Fiumara Chairman Sandra Pollard Member Bi]] Metting Member Jay McBride Member Bruce Sopas Member 1. DISCUSSION OF FUTURE LAND PLANNING IN THE CITY Mayor Pollard called the Work Session to order stating the purpose of the meeting was to discuss future ]and planning of the City as requested by Robert Fiumara, Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Commission members presented a map which they have been working on that showed some of the possible zoning changes they were looking at. They stated they would need professional help before they could make any recommendations to the Council. Mayor Pollard stated he had been in contact with Fox & Jacobs and they have agreed to a one-year moratorium on all ]and west of F'M ~423. This amount of time would give the Planning and Zoning Commission time to meet with a professional planner and to go over the zoning map in detail in order to bring their recommendations to the Council. Both the Council and the Commission were in agreement with this one-year moratorium. Member Metting suggested that a committee be formed from the Commission 'and the Council to work together with a professional planner. Mayor Pollard was in agreement. Members McBride and Metting of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Councilmen Dodds, Poo]e and Adeler will be on this committee. Mayor Pollard at this time moved to go into an executive session.
