HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 91-24 CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS
NO.
WHEREAS, the Dallas-Forth area has some of the highest airfares in
the country, because of lack of competition, as a result of the
Wright Amendment; and
WHEREAS, these higher fares hurt the local economy as business and
individual travelers pay artificially high prices to fly; and
WHEREAS, the high cost to fly into and out of Dallas makes our
convention and meeting industries suffer, thus hurting the local
hotel, restaurant and convention trade; and
WHEREAS, competitive pricing through increased competition will
increase the number of passengers at BOTH Dallas airports, thus
meaning more jobs for the airline industry, hotel industry,
restaurant industry, and convention industry, increasing the
employment base of our economy.
