HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/29/1982 City Council MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY HELD ON NOVEMBER 29, 1982 A SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at 6:30 p.m. with the following members present: Gene Pollard Mayor Larry Sample Councilman Norman Adeler Councilman Charlie Parker Councilman Charles Dodds Councilman Marlene Poole Councilman and with Councilman Scott North absent; however, a quorum was established. 1. PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE ANNEXATION OF A 478.7 ACRE LAND TRACT ON THE PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED 1500 FEET NORTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF SQUIRES DRIVE AND UNDERWOOD STREET Councilman Parker moved to open the Public Hearing. Seconded by Councilman Dodds, the motion carried by the following vote: Ayes: All members present voted aye Noes: None Mayor Pollard recognized Janice Carroll, Acting City Manager, who presented the service plan for this area as follows: SERVICE PLAN FOR 478.7 ACRE LAND TRACT GENERALLY LOCATED ON THE NORTHEAST CITY LIMIT LINE ADJACENT TO THE B.B. OWENS 50-ACRE LAND TRACT AND EXTENDING DUE NORTH In accordance with 970A Section 10B of Vernon's Annotated Civil Statutes the following is a statement of governmental service that must be provided in sixty days and capital improvements that must be provided in two and one-half years. 1. Presently the City does have a contract with Denton County to provide fire protection to this area and this service will be continued. The Town of Frisco also provides service to this area. Ambulance service can be provided immediately. This land is not developed or inhabited and a large number of medical calls is not expected. 2. The Police Department will review immediately the provision of a new district which will provide for patrol of this area based upon need. 3. Waste collection is presently not needed as there are no inhabitants. 4. Road and park maintenance can be maintained. There are no recreational facilities on this land. 5. No capital improvements, i.e., streets, fire station, etc., are needed until the land is subdivided and consequently developed. AMENDED NOVEMBER 29, 1982 Mrs. Carroll explained that this service plan was amended this date and that upon the advice of The Colony's attorney, only the area to a point one mile north would be annexed, as this is the limit of The Colony's extraterritorial jurisdiction. Mayor Pollard then asked for any comments concerning this annexa- tion. There being no comments for or against, Councilman Poole moved to close the Public Hearing, and that the meeting be adjourned.
