HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/27/1982 City Council 00.I_298 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY HELD ON SEPTEMBER 27, 1982 A SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at 11:15 p.m. with the following members present: Gene Pollard Mayor Scott North Councilman Larry Sample Councilman Norman Adeler Councilman Charlie Parker Councilman Charles Dodds Councilman Marlene Poole Councilman and with no members absent, thus a quorum was established. 1. CONSIDERATION OF AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING A 50 ACRE TRACT GENERALLY LOCATED NORTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF SQUIRES DRIVE AND TAYLOR STREET UPON THE PETITION OF LISD At this time, Mayor Pollard read the following ordinance caption: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, ANNEXING THE HERE- INAFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF THE COLONY, DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS, AND EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF SAID CITY SO AS TO INCLUDE SAID PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY LIMITS AND GRANTING ALL PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS AND BINDING ALL INHABITANTS BY ALL THE ACTS, ORDINANCES AND REGULATIONS OF SAID CITY; PRO- VIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE CITY; PROVIDING SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF SAID ORDINANCE. Councilman Parker made a motion to approve this ordinance as presented. The motion was seconded by Councilman North. At this time, Mr. Savage stated for the record that this annexation was requested by the Lewisville Independent School District by petition. He stated further that the city had prepared a service plan and held Public Hearings, per the requirements of the law, both on site and at City Hall on August 23, 1982. He also stated that notice of the Public Hearings to be held on August 23, 1982, was published on August 12, 1982, more than 10 days before the Hearings and that the ordinance was being adopted more than 30 days after the Public Hearings, also as prescribed by the law. Mayor Pollard then called for a vote upon the motion on the floor. The motion was passed by the following roll call vote: Ayes:Councilmen North, Sample, Adeler, Parker, Dodds and Poole Noes:None Abstention: Mayor Pollard There being no further business to be conducted by the Council at this time, Councilman Dodds made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
