MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY HELD ON
APRIL 5, 1982
A SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council was called to order at 6:30 p.m.
on the property to be annexed with the following members present:
Scott North Acting Mayor
Larry Sample Councilman
Norman Adeler Councilman
Charlie Parker Councilman
Charles Dodds Councilman
and with no members absent; thus, a quorum was established.
1. PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ANNEXATION OF 236 ACRES LOCATED EAST
OF PAIGE ROAD AND SOUTH OF STATE HIGHWAY #121 AND A 1.9
ACRE LAND TRACT LOCATED ALONG AND NORTH OF THE RIGHT
OF WAY OF STATE HIGHWAY #121
Councilman Adeler moved that the hearing be opened. Seconded by Council-
man Parker, the motion was passed by the following vote:
Ayes: All members present voted aye
Noes: None
Mr. Savage advised the Council and those present that a service plan had
been prepared for this land and that service could be provided in this
area, however, there was a primary problem involving maintenance of road-
ways, and Denton County had been contacted regarding help on this matter.
He further advised that there were no park or recreation facilities '/
in this area to be maintained and that this land was not in the Municipal
Utility District, therefore, no water or sewer would be provided. He advised
that an ordinance annexing this land would be passed at a Special Session
held on April 26, 1982. At this time, Acting Mayor North asked for comments
from those present. There were no comments from members of the audience.
Councilman Dodds stated that he was in favor of this annexation. He also
asked Mr. Savage who provided phone service to this area. Mr. Savage
stated that he presumed the entire area was serviced by Southwestern Bell.
Councilman Dodds also asked that it be noted in the minutes that this annexa-
tion would allow the city to have the right of way on both sides of State
Highway 121. There being no further comments for or against this annexa-
tion, Councilman Dodds moved that the hearing be closed. Seconded by
Councilman Sample, the motion was passed by the following vote:
Ayes: All members present voted aye
Noes: None
There being no further action to be taken by the Council, Councilman Dodds
moved that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Councilman Adeler,
the motion was passed by the following roll call vote:
Ayes: All members present voted aye
Noes: None
Acting Mayor North adjourned the meeting at 6:34 p.m.
