HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/17/1980 City Council 000 ?30 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY HELD ON NOVEMBER 17, 1980 A REGULAR MEETING of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 6:30 p.m. with the following members present: Richard Turner Mayor William J. Longo Councilman Linda A. Adams Councilman Norman Adeler Councilman and with Councilmen Shipman and Norwood not in attendance due to the early timing of this meeting; however, a quorum was established. 1. CONSIDERATION OF SECOND READING OF ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING HOSPITAL AUTHORITY BOARD Mayor Turner read aloud the following captioned ordinance: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, CREATING A HOSPITAL AUTHORITY; PROVIDING POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE HOSPITAL AUTHORITY; DESIGNATING THE NAME OF THE HOSPITAL AUTHORITY; APPOINTING THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS; PROVIDING A SEVERA- BILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Councilman Longo moved to approve this ordinance upon second reading. Secon- ded by Councilman Adams, the motion was passed by the following roll call vote: Ayes: All members present voted aye Noes: None 2. CONSIDERATION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE TO SPECIAL PERMIT/SCHOOL AT RAGAN ROAD ON NORTH COLONY BOULEVARD Mayor Turner read aloud the following captioned ordinance: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, AMENDING THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY SO AS TO CHANGE THE PROPERTY DES- CRIBED HEREIN TO "SF" SINGLE FAMILY DISTRICT CLASSIFICATION SUBJECT TO SPECIFIC USE PERMIT FOR A PUBLIC SCHOOL; PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF THE ZONING DISTRICT MAP; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Councilman Adams moved that this ordinance be approved upon second reading. Seconded by Councilman Adeler, the motion was passed by the following roll call vote: Ayes: All members present voted aye Noes: None 3. RECEIVED REPORT REGARDING SPORTS FIELD USE POLICY Mr. Tom Hart, City Manager, advised the Council that Richard Frohardt, Chairman of Parks and Recreation, requested this item be tabled for future Council meeting. Councilman Adams so moved. Seconded by Councilman Longo, the motion was passed by the following roll call vote: Ayes: All members present voted aye Noes: None Prior to proceeding with Agenda Item No. 4, Councilman Norwood did arrive and voted on the remaining agenda items. 4. CLOSED DOOR SESSION WITH PERSONNEL Councilman Norwood requested this item be tabled until a future Council meeting. Councilman Adams so moved. Seconded by Councilman Adeler, -1- 000731 the motion was passed by the following roll call vote: Ayes: All members present voted aye Noes: None 5. CONSIDERATION OF ESTABLISHING NOVEMBER 24, 1980, AS A REGULAR MEETING DATE Mr. Hart advised the Council that this regular meeting was needed to insure that bids for police vehicles and motion radar be approved and procedure for purchasing started prior to January 1981. Councilman Longo so moved. Secon- ded by Councilman Adams, the motion was passed by the following roll call vote: Ayes: All members present voted aye Noes: None There being no further action to be taken by the Council, Councilman Adams moved that the meeting.be adjourned.
