Mayor Turner introduced City Manager, Tom Hart, to give a presentation
regarding revenues and expenditures on the proposed Budget for the Fiscal
Year 1980/81, as well as, a detailed review of the packages presented in
this Budget. One member of the audience expressed concern that the
Police Department expenses were significantly more than the Fire Department
expenses at this time. Mr. Hart explained that, of course, the m~jor
difference is personnel cost. However, he added, that much of the equipment
for the Fire Department was being purchased with bond money, which is not
reflected in the general operation budget. The citizens further expressed
concern regarding the need for a Fire Chief. Gene Pollard, a member of the
audience, stated that he did not feel a Chief was necessary at this time.
Janice Allsbrook, a member of the Softball Association, asked about athletic
fiel. d maintenance and what moneys and manpower would be allocated for this
in the next Budget yea~_.~ Mr. Pollard also stated that he felt that the
Council was estimating other revenue sources too conservatively at this time.
