A SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council for the City of The Colony was called to
order with the following members present:
Richard Turner Mayor
-- William J. Longo Councilman
Linda Adams Councilman
Norman H. Adeler Councilman
Gary Shipman Councilman
and with Councilman Chris Fabian absent; hc~ever, a quor~n was established.
1. OATH OF OFFICE
Mayor Turner administered concurrently the oath of office to Councilman Norman
H. Adeler, Place 3 and Councilman Gary Shipman, Place 5. Mayor Turner stated
that the Council would now break for coffee in honor of the new Council members
as well as the Municial Utility District's newly elected Board members.
2. DISCUSSION OF LAND
Mr. Hart, City Manager, stated that although no official action was needed, he
did need direction from the City Council regarding the purchase of land by
the City. Mr. Hart explained to the Council that Fox and Jacobs had presented a
preliminary plat on Section 30 showing a zero lot line develol]nent of luxury
type town homes. This develolwaent would surround the acreage originally planned
for the municipal complex. He explained that this is consistent with the master
plan of the City but does increase the value of the municipal land for multi-
family develot~nent or retail. This development will also p~hibitnew recreation
facilities surrounding the municipal complex, Mr. Hart advised.
His rec~u~ndation was to look for a better municipal site as well as a
.recreational site.
After discussion, it was agreed that Mr. Hart would determine the total acreage
needed for a municipal tract; a different site to be developed as recreational
area and the possibility of developing a park site in subdivision 30.
There being no further action to be taken by the Council, Councilman Adams made
the motion to adjourn. Seconded by Councilman Shil~nan, the motion was passed by
the following roll call vote:
Ayes: All members present voted aye
