RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS APPROVING A JOINT
ELECTION WITH LEWISVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT TO BE HELD
ON MAY 5, 1990
WHEREAS, the City of The Colony has deemed it advisable to approve an
Order Calling an Election; and
WHEREAS, when elections of two or more political subdivisions are to
be held on the same day in all or part of the same territory, the governing
bodies of the political subdivisions may enter into an agreement, pursuant
to Section 271.002 of the Texas Election Code, to hold the elections
jointly in the election precincts that can be served by corrraon polling
places; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of The Colony, Texas,
and in the best interest of its citizens to minimize cost and to maximize
efficiency of said election to hold such joint election with Lewisville
Independent School District on May 5, 1990.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of The
Colony, Texas that the method for allocating expenses and records for said
election shall be as follows:
1. The City of The Colony and Lewisville Independent School District shall
share equally the cost of said polling places, election judges, alternate
judges, election clerks and interpreters (if needed).
2. The City of The Colony and Lewisville Independent School District shall
use separate ballots and ballot boxes.
3. The custodian of the records for the City of The Colony shall be the
Mayor and the custodian of the records for Lewisville Independent School
District shall be the Chairman of the Board.
4. Absentee voting for the City election and the SChool Board election
shall be conducted at City Hall, 5151 N, Colony Blvd., The Colony, Texas
within the boundaries of both entities, and Patti A. Hicks, City Secretary
shall be the absentee voting cler~ for said elections.
