HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/10/1980 City Council 0005,54 CITY OF THE CDLONY DENTON COUNTY, TSDGZS MARCH 10, 1980 A SPECIAL SESSION of the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, was held on March 10, 1980 with the following members present: R/chard Turner Mayor William J. Longo Councilmember Sandra Shearer Councilmember Chris Fabian Colu~cilmember Gary Shipman Councilmember and with Councilmember, Linda Adams absent; however, a quortm~ was established. 1. CANVASS OF BOND ELECTION After reviewing all election forms, Mayor Turner read aloud the following ordinance: ORDER DECLARING RESULT OF SPECIAL CITY ELECTION On this the 10th day of March, 1980, the City Council of the City of The Colony of Denton County, Texas, convened in Special Session open to the public, at the regular meeting place thereof at the City Hall in said City, with the following members, to wit: R/chard Turner Mayor William J. Longo Councilmember Sandra Shearer Councilmember Gary Shipman Councilmember Chris Fabian Counci ~r Janice Carroll City Secretary ~ and the following absent: Linda A. Adams Constituting a quortra, and among other proceedings passed the following order: There came on to be considered the Returns of an election held on the 8th day of March, 1980, upon the proposition as set forth in Order calling said election, and it appearing that said election was in all respects legally held and that said Returns were duly and legally made and that there were cast at said election votes: For "The issuance of $1,125,000.00 Municipal and Police Building Tax Bonds" Votes Against "The issuance of $1,125,000.00 Municipal and Police Building Tax Bonds" Votes It is therefore found, declared and so ordered by the Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, that a majority of the legally qualified voters voted against the proposition set forth in the Order calling said election, and said proposition is hereby declared to have failed. It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body the Secretary/Clerk posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting on the bulletin board located in the City Hall, a place convenient to the public, and said notice having been so posted and remaining posted continuously for at least 72 hours preceding the day or this meeting. A copy of the return of said posting shall be attached to the minutes of this meeting and shall be made a part thereof for all intents and purposes. THE ABOVE ORDER BEING READ, IT WAS MOVED AND SECONDED ~HAT SAME DO PASS. THERE- UPON ~ QUESTION BEING CALLED FOR, THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS OF 5~HE CITY COUNCIL VOTED AYE: WILLIAM J. DONGO, SANDRA SHEARER, GARY SHIPMAN AND CHRIS FABIAN 000555 AND THE FOLLOWING VOTED NO: NONE PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS THE 10 DAY OF MARCH, 1980 Councilman Fabian moved to approve the canvass of these votes. Seconded by Councilman Longo, the motion was passed by the following roll Call vote: AYES: Ail members present voted aye __ NOES: None 2. DRAWING FOR PLACE ON BALLOT Mayor Turner presided at the drawing to determine the order of the candidate's names on the City Officer's Ballots for the election to be held April 5, 1980. The order is as follows: PLACE 3 Norman Adeler DAVID BROWN CHARLES T. DODD D.E. "DEL" CROUSER, III PLACE 4 CHRIS FABIAN GARY SHIPMAN PLACE 5 NICK OPREA GENE POLLARD GREG NORWOOD 3. Ekq~xIP/VE SESSION Mayor Turner announced the Council would meet in a closed door session dealing with a personnel matter Upon reconvening in open session, and there being no further action to be taken, Councilman Shearer moved that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Councilman Longo, the motion was passed by the following roll call vote: AYES: All members present voted aye ROES: None Mayor Turner adjourned the meeting at 11:00 P.M.
