HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/28/1979 City Council 000496 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY HELD ON DECEMBER 28, 1979 A Special Session of the City Council of the City of The Colony was called to order with the following members present: Sandra Shearer Mayor Pro Tem William J. Longo Councilman Gary Shipman Councilman Chris Fabian Councilman and with Mayor Richard Turner and Councilman Li~a A. Adams out of town and not able to attend; however, a quorum was established. 1. CONSIDERATION OF CONSENT BY CITY TO ALLOW LAND INTO THE COLONY MUNICIPAL DISTRICT #1. Mr. Hart advised the Council that this annexation corresponds with the annexation of the approximate 1100 acres now owned by International Business Machines. He did recommend the approval of this consent to enable the M.U.D. to annex this land into the district prior to January 1, 1980 for tax purposes. Mr. Forrest, Director of the Utility District, advised the Council that the approximate 86 acres south of State Highway #121 owned by IBM cannot be annexed until a release is obtained from Hebron, Mr. Forrest said that IBM will apply for an agricultural exemption which will lower the land value from $6000 to $300 per acre; however, when it is developed back, taxes must be paid. After further discussion, Councilman Shipman moved to approve the resolution allowing land to be annexed into The Colony M.U.D. Seconded by Councilman Longo, the motion was passed by the follow- ing roll call vote: Ayes: Ail members present voted aye. Noes: None There being no further action to be taken by the Council, Council- man Longo moved to adjourn. Seconded by Councilman Fabian, the motion was passed by the following roll call vote: Ayes: Ail members present voted aye Noes: None Mayor Pro Tem Shearer adjourned the matting at 10:00 A.M.
