1. CONSIDERATION OF ESTABLISHING LONE STAR GAS RATE INCREASE BY ORDINANCE.
Tom Hart, City Administrator, stated that it is the legal opinion of Mr. Dillard,
the attorney for the City, that the ordinance passed by the Council establish-
ing the gas rate at the Special Session held on December 15, 1978 is not a
valid ordinance. Mr. Hart further explained that an ordinance must be in a
prepared form prior to its passage. He presented to the Council a prepared
ordinance, which reflects the Council's decision to raise from 3.00 ¢ to 3.50¢
for the first 1,000 MCF with all other charges remaining the same as outlined
in City Ordinance #4. At this time, Alderman Pollard introduced the ordinance
by reading the following caption:
AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND DETERMINING THE GENERAL SERVICE
RATE TO BE CHARGED FOR SALES OF NATURAL GAS TO RESIDENTIAL
AND COMMERCIAL CONSUMERS WITHIN THE TOWN LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF THE COLONY, DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE
MANNER IN WHICH SUCH RATE MAY BE CHANGED, ADJUSTED AND AMENDED.
Alderman Pollard moved to adopt this ordinance establishing the general service
rate to be charged for sales of natural gas.
