HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/20/1977 City Council 000124 SPECIAL SESSION CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS DECEMBER 28, 1977 THE STATE OF TEXAS ) ) COUNTY OF DENTON ) The City Council of the City of The Colony, Denton County, Texas convened in Special Session, open to the public, at the City Hall of the City of The Colony, Denton County, Texas at 7:45 A.M., Wednesday, December 28, 1977, and the roll was called of the members of the Council to wit: Luis Guerrero Mayor Linda Adams Alderman Cathy Bock Alderman Dave Dall Alderman Joe Gaulden Alderman Sandra Shearer Alderman Alderman Adams was out of town for the holidays, and Cathy Bock was ill and not able to attend; however, a quorum was established. Also present was Janice Carroll, City Secretary and a member of the press. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Guerrero who wel- comed the member of the press and proceeded to explain the reason for this called Special Session. Fox and Jacobs has requested that 237.4 acres located within the city limits of The Colony be annexed into the Colony Municipal Utility District, and it is necessary that the city approve this action in the form of a resolution. Rick Chadwick, director of the Colony Municipal Utility District, showed the Council the area to be annexed which is located in the northern area of The Colony. This area does include the elevated tower site. There followed a brief discussion as to why this meeting must be held. Mayor Guerrero stated that he did contact Bill Davis, attorney for the city, for his 000125 for his legal opinion, and he saw no problem with this procedure. Alderman Dall asked if a blanket authority could be given by the City. Mr. Chadwick said he could not answer the question at this time; however, he would contact Mr. Earl Hale, the M.U.D. attorney, when he returned from the holidays on January 30. Mayor Guerrero stated that he would also check with Bill Davis on this point. There being no further discussion, Alderman Dall moved that the City approve the annexation of the discussed land by the Colony Municipal Utility District and that it be approved through a Resolution. Alderman Shearer seconded the motion. The motion was carried by the following vote: Ayes: All members present voted aye Noes: None There being no' further action to be taken by the City Council Mayor Guerrero asked for a motion to adjourn. Alderman Dall moved that the meeting be adjourned. Alderman Shearer seconded the motion.
