HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/16/2014 BLDG MINUTES CITY OF THE COLONY,TEXAS BUILDING AND STANDARDS COMMISSION Wednesday,July 16,2014 After determining that a quorum was present, the Building and Standards Commission of the City of The Colony, Texas convened into a Regular Session which was held on Wednesday, July 16, at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, at which time the following item were addressed: Board Members Present: Charles Tredo, Gerald Odum, Constance Yahwak, John Rockenbaugh, and Joel Ortega Board Members Absent:None Present from Staff: Iris Browder, Community Image Manager; Jeff Moore, Attorney, David Summers, Building Official. 1.0 CALL REGULAR SESSION TO ORDER Meeting was called to order at 7:02pm The city attorney asked for clarification as to who currently owns the property located at 4640 Lake Park Drive,The Colony,Texas. Anthony Carniero, stated that the title is still in Robert Carniero's name (his father), but that the property was conveyed to him in May of 2014 through a quit claim deed. 2.0 EXECUTIVE SESSION The Building and Standards Commission shall convene into a closed executive session pursuant to Section 551.071 of the TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE to seek legal advice 2.1 from the city attorney regarding a substandard structure on property located at 4640 Lake Park Drive, The Colony, Texas, and having a legal description of Garza Lake Estates, Block 6, Lot 23. The board convened into executive session for City attorney to provided legal advice to staff regarding the property located at 4640 Lake Park Drive,The Colony,Texas. 3.0 PUBLIC HEARING/ACTION Conduct a public hearing regarding a substandard structure on property located at 4640 3.1 Lake Park Drive, The Colony, Texas, and having a legal description of Garza Lake Estates, Block 6, Lot 23. The board asked the property owner what the plans were for the property. Mr. Anthony Carniero stated that he was going to work on the aesthetics first and then work on the inside. He stated that he has met with the city at the property to discuss what exactly needs to be done. There is some demo and electrical that needs to be done. The board asked Mr. Carniero how much additional time he would need to complete the work and Mr. Carniero stated he would like sixty (60) days. Public hearing was closed. Consideration and action on a substandard structure on property located at 4640 Lake 3.2 Park Drive, The Colony, Texas, and having a legal description of Garza Lake Estates, Block 6, Lot 23. The board asked for input from staff regarding the property. Ms. Browder informed the board that Mr. Carniero has complied with all that has been asked of him to date and has no issues with granting additional time if that is what the board recommends. Board member Ortega made a motion to amend the previous order from February 19,2014 and to allow Mr. Carniero until September 16,2014 to complete the rest of the work.
