HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/15/2012 BOA MINUTES CITY OF THE COLONY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT Wednesday, August 15, 2012 After determining that a quorum was present, the Board of Adjustment of the City of The Colony, Texas convened into Regular Session which was held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, at which time the following items were addressed: Board Members Present: Constance Yahwak, Chairperson; Lloyd Martin, Vice Chairperson; Donna McCright; and Charles Tredo. Board Member Absent: Gerald Odum. Present from Staff: Brooks Wilson, AICP, Senior Planner; J. Michael Joyce, Development Services Director; Gordon Scruggs, Engineering Director; Jeff Connelly, City Councilman; Brian McNuelty, Technical Assistant; and Felicia Campa, Development Services Coordinator. 1.0 CALL REGULAR SESSION TO ORDER Chairperson Yahwak called the meeting to order at 7:11 p.m. 2.0 ITEM FOR CONSIDERATION 2.1 Consider approval of the minutes of the regular session of the July 18, 2012 Board of Adjustment meeting. It was moved by Vice Chairman Martin to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Board Member McCright and carried (5-0). 3.0 ITEM FOR CONSIDERATION 3.1 BOA12-0005 - 4133 Driscoll Variance Request Conduct a public hearing, discuss, and consider approval of a variance to Section 11-703, Lot Coverage, of the Zoning Ordinance to allow an attached patio cover to remain. Ms. Wilson presented the staff report. Board Member McCright asked with the fee being doubled, what the amount owed would be. Mrs. Wilson responded that the fees would be assessed by the Building Official during plan review. Board Member McCright asked the applicant if he was prepared to pay the double fee. Dustin Blank, resident of 4133 Driscoll in The Colony, Texas, responded affirmatively. Board Member McCright asked what material the structure was built of. Mr. Blank responded cedar. Chairperson Yahwak opened the Public Hearing. No one came forward. Chairperson Yahwak closed the Public Hearing. Board Member McCright moved to recommend approval of the proposed ordinance; Vice Chairman Martin seconded the motion.
