HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/02/78 P&Z MINUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING OF THE PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION NOVEMBER 2, 1978 A Public Hearing was held by the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of the Colony, Denton County, Texas and called to order by Chairman Harry Hunsicker, with the following members present: Harry Hunsicker Chairman Richard Turner Member Mark Crow Member Kerry Schuck Member and with member Cathy Bock absent, a quorum was established. Chairman Harry Hunsicker called the meeting to order. The first item was to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Mark Crow moved to accept the minutes and Richard Turner seconded the motion. The motion was passed by the following vote: Ayes: Ail members present voted aye Noes: None Chairman Hunsicker announced that Member Kerry Schuck was replacing Member Bob Brown who resigned. Chairman Hunsicker then opened the Public Hearing and introduced Frank Graham of Fox and Jacobs, who gave a description of the different tracts: Tract 3.904, where it has been zoned for office buildings not to exceed two (2) stories in height; Tract 4.136, where it has been zoned for a shopping center, Barber shop, beauty shop, real estate etc.; and Tract 7.420, where it has been zoned for General retail, nothing has been planned, possibly a grocery store. There followed a general discussion concerning traffic flow, types of stores and signs. Mr. Graham then gave a presentation with a slide lecture on shopping centers all over the United States: Scottsdale Arizona; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Denver, Colorado; and Miami, Florida; showing the landscaping of such and the sign structures. He also showed areas in Dallas that were unsightly, explaining that this was what we did not want in The Colony. After hearing all statements for or against these zoning changes, the hearing was closed. Chairman Hunsicker moved that we accept the zoning changes and submit them to the City Council; Member Mark Crow so moved and Richard Turner seconded the motion. The motion was passe by the following vote: Ayes: Members Crow, Turner and Schuck Noes: None Abstentions: Harry Hunsicker Chairman Hunsicker then moved that the meeting be adjourned.
